The second story addition for a new Master Suite includes a balcony to take advantage of the Santa Barbara mountain views. The newly plastered chimney has a River stone cap for added charm and the front porch and railing were replaced with thicker, more substantial materials to help anchor the home visually.
The side patio became a relaxing living space by creating an inviting outdoor “room” complete with fountain and clay oven. Dymondia is planted between the flagstone to soften the edges and the stone planter’s offer additional seating.
Keeping with the Craftsman look, the kitchen has new Shaker style, white cabinets, a polished “Rosemary” Caesarstone counter top, white handmade Sonoma backsplash tile, an oversized Farmhouse sink and new birch flooring to compliment the fabulous vintage stove.
The second story addition for a new Master Suite includes a ‘Sanctuary’ bathroom for this busy family with black hexagonal mosaic floor tiles with white decorative accents, handmade Sonoma tiles found around the room and a polished Carrara tub deck adjacent to the large glass enclosed shower. On the opposite wall the recessed medicine cabinets and pedestal sinks help give the illusion of a larger space.
The remodeled Living and Family Rooms include new leaded glass door cabinets built-in on either side of the River stone fireplace surround and hearth to match the existing in this Craftsman home. The new birch flooring was added throughout the house and the wall between the two rooms was shortened to create a more open feeling.
Space was at a premium so one room needed to do double duty! The white Shaker style door and drawer faces for the Laundry’s storage cabinets blend beautifully with the compact computer area and help make it feel like a much larger space.
The bedroom has a balcony to take advantage of the Santa Barbara mountain views and the new landing at the top of the stairs has lots of built-in storage. Distressed birch wood flooring to match the rest of the home completes this open yet cozy retreat.
The newly created second floor landing was a perfect place to add more built-in storage with leaded glass doors to keep with the genre of the home.
